Community Partnerships

WWNI logoIn 2008-2009 the Justice Institute of British Columbia was thrilled to partner with Wilp Wilxo’oskwhl Nisga’a Institute (WWNI), in offering the Aboriginal Leadership Certificate Program in New Aiyansh. This program supports the existing leadership capacity and potential within rural and urban Aboriginal communities.

This program emphasizes the integration of traditional Aboriginal worldviews and contemporary perspectives with the skills required for exemplary leadership. The program supports Aboriginal communities in meeting the challenges of self-governance, treaty negotiation, and the transfer of governmental programs and services.

The following year, we delivered the Aboriginal Leadership Certificate (ALC) at the First Nations Training and Development Centre in Prince Rupert. We were proud to say we had an 85% retention rate with this community delivery. We are very excited because six other communities have approached us for delivery of the ALC. In 2011 we will delivery the ALC to Nrothern Lights College in Dawson Creek.
