Convocation Details

All graduates who plan to attend the ceremony MUST register themselves and their guests online at https://www.jibc.ca/student-services/convocation. We will let you know when registration is open for this event. If you did not receive an invitation to register for convocation, please contact your school.

Please arrive at the New Westminster campus at least 90 minutes prior to the ceremony time to check in. When you arrive on site, you will be given further instructions from our staff. It is very important that you are punctual to allow staff time to organize the graduands. For your security, we cannot house personal belongings. Kindly leave these items with a family member or a friend until after the ceremony.

Doors for guest seating will open one hour prior to the ceremony. Overflow seating will be available in the theatre where the ceremony will be webcast. Livestreaming of the event will also be available. Check https://www.jibc.ca/student-services/convocation for more information closer to the event date. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to secure preferred seating. Please note: There is no food permitted in the gymnasium or in the theatre. Parking is free at the New Westminster campus but limited.

Light refreshments will be served for graduates and their guests after the ceremony.

Students attending the ceremony will receive their official documents on the same day unless their documents were previously issued. Students who were unable to attend the ceremony will be mailed their documents within two weeks of the event so it is important that your contact information is always up to date. If you do not receive your documents within four weeks of convocation, please contact the Registration Office.

The JIBC Store will be on site selling JIBC memorabilia and graduation gifts. Please stop by and pick up something special for your graduate!

Convocation is held at our New Westminster campus.

Indigenous graduands who wish to wear their traditional regalia, or elements of their regalia, are invited to do so. If you have questions about traditional regalia, contact the Office of Indigenization at Indigenization@jibc.ca. Professional graduands, such as Firefighters, who wish to wear their uniforms are welcome to wear these in lieu of the traditional gown provided.
