*This course can only be taken by students registered in the Primary Care Paramedic Program.*
Learn the procedures for assessing, stabilizing and managing limb or life-threatening injuries of patients at an emergency scene. Acquire skills to manage and control distressed victims and their injuries, as well as the grief and stress of bystanders and family. In this comprehensive and well-rounded course, you will practice techniques to handle equipment, follow medical protocols for stabilizing critical conditions and learn established models for performing patient assessments. Mastery of these core skills and concepts should be second nature as you develop towards the management of complex medical conditions and trauma-related injuries.

In addition to hands-on practice of procedures, this course has a strong focus on learning to recognize, assess and prioritize life-threatening conditions requiring immediate interventions with treatments and procedures.
