Course Description

The Rope Rescue Team Leader Evaluation is the evaluative component of the rope rescue training program. Eligible individuals must have Rope Rescue Team Member certification, attended a Rope Rescue Team Leader course and have submitted a rope training log consisting of 20 hours of skills practice under the direct supervision of a JIBC certified Rope Rescue Team Leader. The two and a half day evaluation consists of a written exam and six skills stations focusing on anchor and ties, belay systems and edge, lowering systems, haul systems, stretcher rigging and rappelling and ascending. The final day of the evaluation consists of several scenarios where the team leader candidate is also assessed on their incident management skills. These include leadership, organization, hazard and risk assessment, situational awareness, planning, decision making, communications and resource management.
