Emergency Management Certificate Program

No organization is immune to the threat of disaster. That’s why you need a comprehensive training program to help you prepare for and mitigate the effects of disaster – and increase the speed and response of recovery.

Take the JIBC Emergency Management Certificate, and gain the knowledge and skills needed to develop and implement effective emergency management plans. You'll be prepared to enter this exciting and growing field - and ensure your organization is prepared for any type of event.

Curriculum Outline

The Emergency Management Certificate is a part-time 15-credit program. You have up to three years to complete the required and elective course work.

To receive your certificate, you must complete all courses with a grade of 70% or higher, including the final assignment which is due within three months of completion of all other course credit.

• EM110 – Introduction to Emergency Management in Canada (.5 credits)
• CMD110 Incident Command System Level 100 (.5 credits)
• ESS100 – Introduction to Emergency Social Services
• EM710 – Emergency Operations Centre Level 1 (.5 credits)
• EM723 – Planning Process (1 credit)
• EM724 Conducting Hazard, Risk and Vulnerability Analyses (1 credit)
• EM931 – Developing Personal Preparedness Programs (.5 credits)
• EOC120 – Emergency Operations Centre Essentials
• EM150 – Introduction to Emergency Management Exercise Design (1 credit)
• EM730 – Emergency Evacuations (.5 credits)
• CCR100 – Foundations of Collaborative Conflict Resolution (1.5 credits) or CCR101 – Foundations of Collaborative Conflict Resolution – Workplace Focus (1.5 credits)
• EMDE950 – Emergency Management Final Assessment (1.5 credits)
