Alternative Fuel Vehicle Safety Training for First Responders
November 25, 2017 - November 26, 2017 SAT: 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
The JIBC Fire & Safety Division is delivering free workshops to help prepare first responders to safely operate at incidents involving hybrid vehicles (HEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and electric vehicles (EVs).
These workshops have been funded by the BC Office of the Fire Commissioner and the Fire Chiefs Association of BC.
Registration is open to:
- Fire Service members
- Current Paramedics
- Serving Police Officers
- Recovery and Tow Truck Operators
- Other first responders who may deal with alternative fuel vehicles on BC roads
Topics covered in the workshops include:
- Basic Electrical Concepts and Hazards
- P/HEV and EV Systems
- Initial Response
- Emergency Operations
- Fuel Cell Vehicles
Day 1 (Saturday: 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.) is for firefighters and is a Train-the-Trainer Workshop. Firefighters who have attended and successfully completed the workshop will be able to deliver the training to their own department. Maximum of 4 members per department.
Day 2 (Sunday: 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.) is for other first responders and is an information session.
