Using the Internet as an Effective Investigative Research Tool

JIBC New Westminster campus theatre
March 7, 2012 9:00am - 4:00pm

A practical one-day workshop

This workshop is being offered in partnership with Toddington International Inc. who since 1997 has maintained an unrivalled global reputation as a leader in the provision of Internet based Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) training and support services.

Using the Internet as an Investigative Tool seems simple but the fact remains that even experienced users frequently don’t know what they don’t know about online research. Most users employ highly ineffective search techniques that waste time, money and could result in critical online information being missed completely.

Most Internet users are unaware of the "footprints" they leave on the web sites they visit. Using freely available tools a web site’s administrator can learn a vast amount of information about who has visited and even what keywords were used to locate their page. In some cases a few simple techniques can result in even "covert" computer systems can be traced back to their actual owner.
