Compensation

The JIBC provides market competitive total compensation to all of its employees. Total compensation consists of:

  • Base salary that is competitive within the college and institute sector;

  • A generous benefits package for employees and their families comprised of: BC Medical (MSP), Extended Health, Dental, Group Life Insurance, and Accidental Death & Disability Insurance – the JIBC pays all premiums for coverage with the exception of a small contribution from excluded staff for additional benefits;

  • Sick leave support comprised of: basic sick leave, short term disability, and long term disability benefits;

  • Extensive paid time off including: 11 statutory and general holidays per year, generous vacation allowances, earned Flex days for union staff and personal days for excluded staff; and

  • Pension benefits: union employees belong to the Municipal Pension Plan; excluded employees belong to the College Pension Plan; both the JIBC and the employee make contributions to their respective pension plan.
