Bureau of Counterterrorism
As part of the U.S. Department of State, this office develops and implements counterterrorism policies and works with other foreign governments in response to any terrorist event. Included in this site is a separate link to archived information created prior to January 20th 2001, the date President George W. Bush took office. The Global Terrorism Database (GTD) is an open-source database including information on terrorist events around the world from 1970 through 2007 (with annual updates planned for the future). From the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism at the University of Maryland.
International Center for the Study of Terrorism
The ICST at Penn State is a research institute providing information on terrorism and other issues concerning political violence. Links are provided to other pertinent sites, to current news stories and to their published documents.
NATO: North Atlantic Treaty Organization
Provides information on access to NATO's policies and structures, official documents, press releases, speeches, and publications. NATO's mandate is to ensure security and cooperation between members and partner countries. This site has information on terrorism in the "Issues" section.
