Changes to the School Structure at JIBC
Internal reorganization results in new names for Schools at JIBC
Justice Institute of British Columbia has reorganized and renamed its Schools, effective January 2014.
The School of Public Safety & Security has become two schools:
- School of Criminal Justice & Security
- School of Public Safety
The School of Community & Social Justice has been renamed:
- School of Health, Community & Social Justice
The School of Health Sciences has been restructured as a Division of Health Sciences, housed within the School of Health, Community & Social Justice.
"These changes were made to create a more balanced and effective organizational structure and to best integrate strengths and opportunities in like programming, with an eye to the future," said JIBC Vice President Academic Laureen Styles.
"These organizational changes are administrative in nature, and will not have any direct impact on students. Our training and education activity remains the same," she said.
For the time being, the JIBC website at jibc.ca will continue to present the previous School structure (prior to January 2014) and School names. Later this year, the website will be updated to reflect the new Schools structure.
