Procedure Statement: 

Background:

This procedure is intended to provide consistency in processes and a transparent experience for the student who is voluntarily withdrawing from a course, while respecting the various types of instructional activity.      

Responsibility:

Refunds are processed through the Registrar’s Office and issued by Finance.

Students are responsible for ensuring they are aware of withdrawal and refund timelines and that they withdraw from course in a timely manner. 

General Considerations:

a)   Tuition deposits  and application fees are nonrefundable and non-transferrable;

b)   Refunds are calculated from the date the student withdraws online or when official withdrawal is received in the Registrar’s Office;

c)    Unpaid fines and other amounts owing will be deducted from the refund;

d)    Students required to withdraw due to violation of the Student Code of Conduct policy are not entitled to a refund;

e)    A full refund is issued if the course is cancelled ;

f)     Extenuating circumstances may be considered outside of the deadlines indicated below;

g)    Refund information is provided at the time of registration. 

Refunds for Term Courses: Classroom and Online
(Courses that are normally 13-15 weeks long or operate on a semester basis)

a)    If a student withdraws prior to the start of the course they receive a 100% refund less any required deposit or commitment fee. 

b)    If a student withdraws within the first two weeks of class they will be eligible for 80% refund less any required deposit or commitment fee with no notation on their transcript.

c)    After the second week of classes there is no refund for semester based courses. 

Refunds for Continuing Studies Courses

a)    If a student withdraws 7 calendar days prior to the beginning of the course they receive a 100% refund;

b)    Withdrawal with less than 7 calendar days from the start of the course are not eligible for tuition refund;

c)     Some courses may have non-refundable tuition, application, and/or material fees (this will be identified at the time of registration).

Continual Entry Online Courses

Continuous entry courses are not eligible for refunds.
