Aboriginal Leadership Certificate
This certificate is designed for leaders and managers to develop skill sets, knowledge and attitudes required to work successfully and effectively as leaders in various Aboriginal contexts.
The program will underscore the importance of understanding the diversity of Aboriginal cultures and contemporary issues, as well as the legal and legislative framework relative to Aboriginal peoples in Canada.
Who Should Take This Certificate
This Certificate is designed for leaders and managers, or those who aspire to be, executive directors, chief executive officers, Aboriginal police, correctional officers, probation officers, First Nations firefighters, elected Chief and Council members, administrators, managers, community justice coordinators, education coordinators, and health and social services administrators.
Learning Objectives
The comprehensive curriculum is designed to maximize your personal and professional growth, while providing a positive impact on your community. It represents an amalgamation of the critical, interlinked competency areas of leadership in Aboriginal justice, community safety and human services.
The program content underscores the importance of understanding the diversity of Aboriginal cultures and contemporary issues, as well as the legal, legislative and socio-economic framework relative to Aboriginal peoples in Canada.
Format (Learning Format/Structure)
The certificate includes nine core courses offered from Friday to Sunday for two consecutive weeks each month and a final practicum course that students complete off campus.
Full attendance is required.
We recommend that you complete the program in the order that the courses are offered and within one calendar year.

Admission Requirements
Minimum requirements for admission:
- Grade 12 or equivalent (with minimum C+ in English 12)
- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
