Aboriginal Leadership Diploma
The two year, 60 credit Diploma Program is designed for part time learners.
The courses in year one are the same courses offered in the one year Certificate Program. Year two builds on these courses and includes a final integrative project, eight core courses, and six credit electives.
Who Should Take This Diploma
This Certificate is designed for leaders and managers, or those who aspire to be, executive directors, chief executive officers, Aboriginal police, correctional officers, probation officers, First Nations firefighters, elected Chief and Council members, administrators, managers, community justice coordinators, education coordinators, and health and social services administrators.
Learning Objectives
The comprehensive curriculum is designed to maximize your personal and professional growth, while providing a positive impact on your community. It represents an amalgamation of the critical, interlinked competency areas of leadership in Aboriginal justice, community safety and human services.
The program content underscores the importance of understanding the diversity of Aboriginal cultures and contemporary issues, as well as the legal, legislative and socio-economic framework relative to Aboriginal peoples in Canada.
Format (Learning Format/Structure)
The diploma includes eight core courses offered from Friday to Sunday for two consecutive weeks each month plus six credit electives, the schedule for the electives vary depending on the host school.
Full attendance is required.
We recommend that you complete the program in the order that the courses are offered and within one calendar year.

Cost of Diploma Program is $4616 + $120 LSF = $4736 plus the cost of Electives

Course texts can be purchased through the JIBC Store. A text list will be provided when you register.
Admission Requirements
Minimum requirements for admission :
- Grade 12 Diploma or Equivalent
- English 12 with a C+ minimum
- Basic computer skills
- Successful completion of the Aboriginal Leadership Certificate Courses
