This certificate specialization will equip you with concepts and skills to improve your personal and working relationships by learning how to handle conflict more constructively.

It is comprised of a number of required and elective courses, and totals 252 hours (36 training days) in length, worth 18 credits. It culminates in a Certificate in Conflict Resolution: Specialization in Negotiation upon successful completion of all course hours and the final assessment component.

Who Should Take This Certificate

Leaders (either formal or informal), managers, dispute resolution practitioners and those wishing to become more influential in their interpersonal relationships and who want to learn more about the process and practice of collaborative conflict resolution.

Learning Objectives

This certificate specialization provides an excellent opportunity to explore the broad field of conflict resolution, with an emphasis on negotiation skills. You will first learn the foundations of collaborative conflict resolution with a focus on self awareness in conflict. You will then apply this understanding and knowledge in a problem solving/negotiation setting that involves looking for mutually satisfactory solutions.

The program electives allow you to specialize and deepen your learning in a variety of contexts related to negotiation. Your learning will culminate in a written and practical assessment of your learning, skills and abilities.

Format (Learning Format/Structure)

  • The certificate program is a total of 252 hours or 36 days of training (comprising a number of required and elective courses) and an assessment. 

  • You can take courses individually on a one-off basis or complete the entire certificate.

  • Learn at your own pace – take courses when they fit your schedule.

  • Core courses are scheduled several times throughout the year and electives less frequently.

  • Full attendance is required.

  • We recommend you complete the program within 2-3 years.

  • Three-day (21 hours) online courses take six to seven weeks to complete
