Bylaw Compliance, Enforcement and Investigative Skills Certificate

The new Bylaw Compliance, Enforcement and Investigative Skills Certificate Program is designed to develop the skills, knowledge and abilities required to work successfully in bylaw enforcement in British Columbia.

Both Levels 1 and 2 of this certificate have been endorsed by the Licence Inspectors and Bylaw Officers Association of British Columbia.

Who Should Take This Certificate

This certificate is for those:

  • Currently working as BC Bylaw Enforcement/Local Government Regulatory Officers;
  • Currently working as License Inspectors (i.e. building, electrical, gas, plumbing);
  • Seeking employment in the Bylaw Enforcement/Licensing fields; or
  • Seeking to qualify for a competitive position.

Program Format

 To successfully complete the program and receive a program certificate, you must:

  • Complete BYLAW101 (Level 1) and BYLAW102 (Level 2)
  • Attend all training in full (i.e. online and in-person)
  • Complete all learning requirements, including assignments, discussions, journals and quizzes, and achieve 60% or higher overall

Program Cost & Supplies

The total cost to complete the Certificate Program is $2,310.00, which includes BYLAW101 and BYLAW102.  For individual course pricing, click the links in the previous section.

There are no extra book or supply costs. Course manuals are supplied when you attend class.

 

Admission Requirements & Application Process

To improve your chance of success in this program, It is strongly recommend that you have a grade 12 or equivalent education, are fluent in the English language (written and oral), and have basic computer skills with reliable Internet access.
