Family Resource Program (FRP) Certificate

The 12-day (6 credit) certificate is experiential and cognitive, competency-based training for workers who support parents of young children in dealing with a wide range of challenges including child development, adaptation to a new country and culture, divorce, or family violence.

Who Should Take This Certificate

The Family Resource Program Certificate is for family support practitioners, particularly those in prevention-focused parent /child engagement programs, including:

  • Practitioners currently working in Family Resource Programs
  • Individuals seeking careers in Family Resource Programs and related fields such as early learning centres
  • Practitioners working in other fields who want to expand their knowledge in the areas of prevention-focused family support

Learning Objectives

You will complete a unique offering of courses that will increase your ability to address family functioning and assist parents or caregivers with their children’s social, cognitive, emotional and physical development.

Format (Learning Format/Structure)

 Note: 1 day is equivalent to 7 credit hours. A credit is comprised of 14 hours.

Cost

The certificate is currently available at no cost to eligible practitioners in Family Resource Programs (FRP), however seats are limited. Please note, subsidies do not cover application fees, travel, and accommodation expenses.

Individuals working in related fields may also apply, but priority will be given to practitioners working in FRP programs. 

Certificate Application Fee: $75

Books & Supplies

Course manuals are supplied when you attend class, and if purchase of books or other materials is required you will be advised of the details when you register.

Admission Requirements

The courses and certificate are open to anyone. There are no formal requirements for admission.

Apply

  • We recommend you apply as soon as possible to allow for adequate time to process your application. Once an applicant is accepted, we suggest registering at least one month before the classes begin as the number of seats is limited.

  • Submit your completed application form, along with your resume, a work letter of reference and the $75 non-refundable application fee via fax, mail or email.
