In the age of big data, the growing field of intelligence analysis can help businesses and organizations discover trends to protect themselves and gain a competitive edge.
The graduate certificate in Intelligence Analysis is a 15 credit program (five 3-credit courses delivered online) which will provide advanced theoretical and practical framework for the study of intelligence and its application in a wide variety of contexts.
The program is designed to provide specialized theoretical foundation and applied skills to function successfully as an analyst. This is accomplished through a rigorous curriculum that includes a core of three courses, which exposes students to the fundamental and advanced concepts and analytic techniques.
Graduates will possess the skills to critically scrutinize unstructured and often ambiguous data within a variety of competitive, security and criminal contexts such as finance and banking, crime and organized crime, and national security, safety, and terrorism.
Graduates will be prepared to work in varying industries that employ analysts. Some examples are finance and business, medicine, law enforcement and security, public safety, investment, and marketing.

Foundational Courses
Learners from both graduate certificates are required to complete all three foundational courses. Each course will provide learners with the relevant theories and practices of analysis and enable learners to effectively and clearly communicate findings.
You must be accepted into the Program before you can register! The course dates below are tentative. There are over 60 students in various stages of the program. If you are a program student and are unsure of which course to take next, contact the program area to confirm.

Application Process
You must meet the following entrance requirements for admission to the Program:
- Proof of completion of bachelor degree OR
A minimum of two years of post secondary education plus a minimum of five years of progressive and specialized experience in working with the analysis of data and information. Applicants must also write a 500 - 1000 word essay on a related topic of their choice OR
Applicants who have not completed a minimum of 2 years post-secondary education must have eight to ten years of progressive and specialized experience in working with the analysis of data and information (Dean/Director discretion). Applicants are required to write a 500-1000 word essay on a related topic of their choice. - Two letters of Recommendation: One Academic and one Personal Reference or two Professional References;
- Detailed Resume;
- Personal Statement/Statement of Intent;
- Current criminal record check

JIBC has articulation agreements for transfer credit with the following organizations. For detailed information, please email graduatestudies@jibc.ca
BCIT - Students who successfully demonstrate completion of the BCIT Bachelor of Technology, Forensic Investigation - Crime and Intelligence Analysis option, will receive six credits for JIBC's INTL-5100 Intelligence Theories & Applications, and INTL-5800 Intelligence Communications which are two of the foundational courses in the JIBC's Intelligence Analysis and Tactical Criminal Analysis Graduate Certificate programs.
