Program Format

Flexible Options for Today's Students

Today's students come from many walks of life. Maybe you've just graduated from high school, or perhaps you're an adult learner looking for a different type of career. Either way, we have a program format to meet your needs. Choose from:

  • Part-time online cohort based format
  • Full-time blended format

Part-time Online Format:

In the part-time online program, all classes are offered completely online, so you can study from anywhere, anytime. Students work in cohorts, completing two to three courses per semesters,  three semesters per year. Students can expect to complete their program in five years. Students have the opportunity to collaborate and share experiences in an interactive online learning experience.

Full-time Blended Format:

In the full-time blended format, students take a combination of in-class and online courses. All in-class courses are currently offered at our New Westminster campus. Full-time students work in cohorts and complete five courses per semester, two semesters per year. Students can expect to complete their program four years. 

Diploma Exit

Designed in a laddered format, students can choose to graduate with a Diploma in Emergency & Security Management after the first two years of study. Visit the diploma page for more information.

Program Cost

The Bachelor of Emergency and Security Management Studies is 120 credits or 40 courses. Tuition fees are charged per course.  For individual course prices, please follow the links under “Courses” below and costs will be available for upcoming classes.

Courses

Students in the Bachelor of Emergency and Security Management Studies complete 120 credits, or 40 courses. Courses are divided into three streams:

Emergency Management & Security Fundamentals

Business & Liberal Arts Foundations

Electives

Students are also required to complete 6 credits of general education/liberal studies courses and 15 credits of security and emergency management electives chosen from the list below:

Admission Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent
  • Mathematics 11 (minimum grade of C) or equivalent
  • English 12 (minimum grade of C) or equivalent

Application Process

The deadline for applications for the September 2012 intake is June 30, 2012. To apply:

  • Write a letter of approximately 250 words describing your interest in the program and how you intend to manage your studies with your other responsibilities to ensure your success in the program and submit it with your application.
  • Submit the application package (application form, entrance letter, proof of educational requirements, and $75 application fee) in person or by mail to:
