Introducing Our First Search & Rescue Course Available to the General Public
SAR102: Introduction to Search & Rescue in BC is JIBC's first Search and Rescue (SAR) course available to the general public. Previously, these courses were only available to registered SAR volunteers.
What Will I Learn?
This course provides a big-picture overview of the SAR model used in BC, including the roles and responsibilities of every member in the SAR structure. This course complements our SAR100 Ground Search and Rescue training modules, and includes examples of typical SAR responses.
Who Should Take This Course?
This introductory course is ideal for:
- New SAR volunteers, as part of their general orientation
- Personnel from agencies that support or use the services of volunteer SAR groups in BC, as an overview of how agencies and SAR groups work together
- Individuals interested in Search and Rescue and may be interested in becoming a volunteer.
Existing SAR members may also find this course useful in providing background information and a big picture overview that may not have been available when they took their GSAR training.
