Gaming Security Officer Training

Gaming Security Officer training now includes both Gaming Security Officer and Basic Security Training in one course.

JIBC and the British Columbia Lottery Corporation have developed a Gaming Security Officer Certification Program that you must successfully complete in order to qualify for employment in casinos and other gaming facilities.

The JIBC under Agreement with BCLC administers the Gaming Security Program.  Gaming security officers in British Columbia are required to successfully complete an online course and final written examination.  This is a self-paced course which is available to you for 12 weeks from enrolment.  You must be online a minimum of 5 days from registration before you can request your final written exam.

Program Outline

As a Gaming Security Officer, you will play a key role in maintaining gaming integrity, ensuring the comfort and safety of customers and co-workers, protecting the assets of the facility, managing access and investigating unusual activities and incidents.

Course Completion

Effective December 1, 2011, students who successfully complete the PSP 194 - Gaming Security Officer online course will receive both their Gaming Security Officer (GSO) certificate and their Basic Security Training (BST) certificate.  In order to be successful you must complete the online course plus a final written exam with a minimum of 70%.  Students will receive their certificates via email.

As a security professional, dual certification with both your GSO and BST gives you further employment options.  You may seek employment in a casino or gaming centre, or within general security.

GSO Course Manual:  $35 plus HST (Total:  $39.20)  *this manual is intended for optional study purposes only and is not required for the course.  Students must still complete the online course.
