Overview
The Instructor Development Course prepares individuals to become licensed Class 6/8 instructors. The course is designed to provide instructor candidates with the necessary knowledge and skills to teach individuals how to ride motorcycles safely and professionally.
Instructor Candidates will be required to attend MST110 Motorcycle Skills and MST160 Traffic Skills. This provides an opportunity to familiarize the candidate with the format, curriculum and training methods utilized to teach new riders.
The course will focus on:
- Instructional Techniques
- Presentation Techniques
- Evaluation Methods
- Fault Detection and Correction
- Group Control
- Student Safety
These topics will be accomplished by practice teaching sessions in the classroom and on the range and in- traffic; and completion of written and practical examinations.
JIBC is an ICBC approved Motorcycle Instructor Facility
Program Admission
Information Sessions are held prior to the course start.
All students must meet ICBC Instructor Licensing Requirements and successfully complete their pre-screening process prior to course start. Please visit www.dtcbc.com for more information about becoming an ICBC licensed Class 6 Instructor.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Become a licensed ICBC Class 6/8 Instructor
- Apply the instructional techniques and training methods accurately and safely when instructing new riders.
- Evaluate students and address their learning patterns and problems when required
- Adapt to a variety of learning styles while maintaining the students safety
- Ensure students are competent riders and are able to successfully complete the curriculum requirements before they are able to complete training courses.
