Existing students in the Fire Fighter I and BC Fire Fighter I/II programs are strongly encouraged to complete their programs by June 30, 2017. Those who are unable to complete the requisite courses by June 30, 2017, will be transitioned to the appropriate Interior or Full Service Fire Fighter Operations programs. 

The new Playbook programs Exterior Fire Fighter Operations, Interior Fire Fighter Operations and Full Service Fire Fighter Operations are now available for registration.

Playbook FAQ

The Fire Fighter I/II program is designed to meet the Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications of NFPA 1001.

Each fire department decides whether to train their fire fighters to Level I or Level II of the standard.

Upon completion of all ten modules, the fire fighter is issued a Certificate of Achievement with both IFSAC and ProBoard seals.

Program Outcomes

Upon completion of the program, the fire fighter will have gained proficiency in:

  • Fire department communications
  • Fire ground operations
  • Rescue operations
  • Prevention, preparedness and maintenance

Format & Fees

Hazmat Awareness & Operations is a requirement for the NFPA 1001.

Notes:

  • Hazmat Awareness meets competencies defined in Chapter 4 of NFPA 472.
  • Hazmat Operations meets competencies defined in Chapter 5 of NFPA 472.
  • Minimum requirements of fire fighter program:  infection control, CPR, bleeding control and shock management.

Examinations

Exam Requests only available to students currently registered this program

 

Examinations must be requested for each student by the department Training Officer, and must be proctored. Students must be registered in the program before Training Officers can register them for exams.

Exams can either be requested for each individual student or for all students from one department, for either Fire Fighter I or II. Complete the appropriate form below and email to ff2exams@jibc.ca.
