Course Details

This course will explore common mental health issues common to youth and will provide youth probation officers with knowledge and resources to assist youth in coping with mental health issues. Mental health assessment and treatment services available in local communities and from Youth Forensic Psychiatric Services will be described, as well as the importance of an integrated practice model. The relationship between substance use and mental health issues will be identified by defining concurrent disorders and best practice approaches for assessing and treating these youth.

This course is only available to Ministry of Children and Family Development employees, as identified in their Youth Probation Training Plan.
