Course Details

This course introduces learners to the philosophy, perspectives, concepts and terms that are integral to Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM): a specialized mental health intervention with protocols for individual interventions. Learners will acquire a basic understanding of trauma and critical incident stress as well as the factors and vulnerabilities that may contribute to a heightened response before, during and after critical incidents. The course will provide an orientation to practical tools and strategies to provide as critical incident stress interventions. Learners will be introduced to a trauma informed, non-judgemental and inclusive framework for CISM delivery.
