SOPAT (Sheriff Officer Physical Abilities Test)
The Sheriff Officer Physical Abilities Test (SOPAT) is part of the applicant screening process for admission to the Sheriff Recruit Training (SRT) program. After successful completion of the SOPAT, participants are eligible to go onto the next screening step.
You can find out more information about the SOPAT, including the station descriptions, a map of the course and the requirements you need to fulfill by downloading the SOPAT handout.
For further information about the SOPAT and the application process, contact the Court Services Branch.
Should you want to practice the SOPAT prior to doing the test at the JIBC, you can contact your local YMCA, LEPAT, LEAP, Sheepdog or any other SOPAT testing facilities/companies for information about SOPAT practice. Please note that not all YMCAs have the equipment to practice the SOPAT.
