Research Tools for Students

We've compiled a number of tools to help our Applied Research students succeed.

The Writing Centre has complied a number of student research resources. The Writing Centre also provides individualized support. For more information please contact the Writing Centre at writingcentre@jibc.ca

The Library has developed and curated resources for student researchers, including specialized subject guides. Please see the Library Research Resources to start your research

The annual JIBC Applied Research Day is a great opportunity to showcase your research as well as check out the interesting applied research that JIBC is involved with.  Please note that if displaying at poster events outside of JIBC, the size requirement may be different.

Tips for Research Posters

  • The smallest font should be 20pt

  • Should be able to read your poster from 1.5 - 2 metres away

  • White space is important - it does not all need to be filled in with text!

  • Use images such as diagrams, charts and photos to add to the visual impact

  • Spell check and have someone proofread before printing

JIBC's annual Applied Research Day is focused on student research. It is an opportunity for JIBC faculty, staff, research associates, students, grads, stakeholders, and guests to learn more about applied research through guest speakers, presentations and research updates.  It is also an opportunity to showcase JIBC applied research using "speed research" sessions and poster presentations.

Note
Student projects may require ethical approval.

The JIBC Library offers resources you won’t find anywhere else. Librarians will help with your research and assist with citing your sources.
