BC Lung Association Healthy Lungs First Responder Award
For more than 100 years, the BC Lung Association has led the fight for healthy lungs and healthy air. The BC Lung Association is the leading organization in British Columbia working to save lives, prevent and improve lung health through research, advocacy, education and support. When you can't breathe, nothing else matters.
The purpose of the BC Lung Association Healthy Lungs First Responder Award is to provide tuition support for JIBC students, specific to first responder training (police, fire, paramedicine), through an annual scholarship.
The BC Lung Association Healthy Lungs First Responder Award will be one award annually of $1,000.
Please note that award funds may be held in a student account for up to one year from the date awarded.
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person for at least one (1) year.
- Applicants must be currently enrolled as a JIBC Police Recruit, Fire Fighter Technologies Certificate (FFTC) , Primary Care (PCP) or Advanced Care Paramedicine (ACP) students.
- Students must submit a 1,000 word essay answering the question "How can first responders better understand and deal with lung health issues they might encounter in their workplace?" Please use APA Style referencing in your essay.
Annually there is one application deadline:
