Funding for Indigenous Students

Indigenous students can access targeted funding in several different ways, as listed below.

Indigenous Student Scholarships and Awards

Scholarships and awards which are aimed at Indigenous learners are listed on the Awards, Scholarships & Bursaries webpage. Resources for External Awards for Indigenous learners are also available.

Indigeneous Emergency Assistance Funding

As part of an initiative by the Ministry of Advanced Education, to improve post-secondary opportunities and outcomes for First Nations, Metis and Inuit people, the JIBC announces the availability of Aboriginal Emergency Assistance Funding. If you are an Indigenous student enrolled in a JIBC program and in need of financial assistance for unexpected expenses you may be eligible.

Important: This fund is not for students wishing to pay for tuition or books, and should only be considered after all other avenues have been exhausted. It is meant to relieve short-term financial difficulties.
