International students applying to JIBC must demonstrate an acceptable level of English language proficiency.

English as a Second Language Testing Options

Applicants whose first language is not English may meet English proficiency requirements by taking one of the following English Language proficiency tests. The assessment may involve reading, writing, speaking and listening. The minimum score required can differ depending on the program.

60 overall, minimum 50 in each skill band

Complete C1 Advanced with a score of C.

Canadian Language Benchmark Placement Test (CLB)

minimum 7 in each skill band

Note: English proficiency tests must have been completed within 24 months of the program start date.

We offer opportunities for students to satisfy our English Language Proficiency admission requirements by improving their English skills at one of our internationally-acclaimed ESL partners through articulated pathways. These pathways allow students to seamlessly enter JIBC, without having to take any additional English entrance test.
