JIBC honours life and service of fallen Calgary Police officer
The Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC) is flying flags at half-mast at all JIBC campuses to honour Sgt. Andrew Harnett of the Calgary Police Service who died in the line of duty on New Year’s Eve.
On Dec. 31 a Calgary Police officer was conducting a traffic stop shortly before 11 p.m. The vehicle attempted to flee and the officer was struck and dragged by the driver of the escaping vehicle. He died in hospital of injuries sustained during the incident. The two suspects have since turned themselves in to police and have been charged with first-degree murder.
