Gerry Wong Memorial Bursary

no-overlay
The Gerry Wong Memorial Bursary was established in 2024 by the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) South Central BC Branch in honour of longstanding member Gerry Wong. Gerry worked at the Highland Valley Copper mine in Kamloops for over 40 years and suffered a fatal heart attack onsite in 2022. Gerry had been a member of CIM for years and was continually supporting and giving back to his local communities. One of the many ways Gerry gave back was through his years of deep involvement in volunteer paramedic work. Because of this, this bursary will support Primary Care Paramedic students at JIBC.

The bursary provides support for students in financial need enrolled in the Primary Care Paramedic Program at the Justice Institute of British Columbia.
