New Guidelines – July 16, 2021

To our students,

We are getting closer to seeing more of you on campus and we can’t wait!

For those of you on campus or involved in other face-to-face JIBC activities this summer, here are our Transition Period (July-Aug) Return-to-Campus Guidelines.

New guidance from the Provincial Health Officer, WorkSafeBC, and the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training shift the requirements back to individual employers and institutions to determine their own appropriate safety controls.  JIBC has evaluated the guidance, consulted the regional Medical Health Officer and put in place appropriate controls for our community at this time.

Here’s what you need to know when you attend a JIBC campus today:

Masks – Required for Close Contact (<2m), Recommended Indoors

At JIBC masks are required for everyone when/if you must be closer than 2m to anyone else and recommended for everyone when indoors. They are not required when alone in an office or cubicle with walls extending at least 30cm above/below the nose height of the person on either side.

Please note: This means instructors can teach from their designated instruction zone without masks, and those protected by desktop barriers in classrooms can remove masks when seated.

Keep Your Distance

Physical distancing of 2m is to be maintained when possible. Please limit close contact time to only what is necessary then move apart.

Do Your Daily Health Assessment

Continue to complete your daily health assessment prior to attending the campus and stay home if you are not feeling well.  BC COVID-19 Self-Assessment Tool

Wash Your Hands

Continue to wash and/or sanitize your hands often. Sanitizer stations are installed throughout JIBC campuses.

Get Vaccinated

Do your part in keeping communities safe from COVID-19 by getting vaccinated.

It really feels like things are starting to get back to normal! Thank you for continuing to adapt as we transition through this final stretch. Stay vigilant, safe, and healthy.

See you soon,
