Principal Investigator: Junsong Zhang

Research Team: Albertine De Leon, Ben Coulas

Project Dates: January 11, 2024 - June 13, 2024

Project Funding: $4,429.40

Project Summary: This project supported the presentation of a case study at PebbleBash 2024, an international conference focused on digital literacy and ePortfolios in higher education. The case study highlights the integration of reflective learning and ePortfolio thinking in the Community Care Licensing Officer (CCLO) program at the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC). The session demonstrated how PebblePad is used to design a flexible, inclusive, and skill-enhancing course that caters to diverse students. Funding also supported the registration and travel for one team member to present at the conference, where they shared insights on using ePortfolios to support personalized learning and career readiness in community care education.

Outcomes and Benefits: This project fosters the dissemination of innovative teaching practices, enhancing JIBC’s reputation as a leader in flexible, inclusive education. By showcasing the integration of ePortfolios in community care licensing education, the case study promotes knowledge-sharing with an international audience, contributing to the professional development of educational designers, instructors, and administrators. Conference participation strengthens institutional capacity to implement technology-driven pedagogical solutions and informs future developments in JIBC’s teaching and learning strategies. A peer reviewed paper was submitted and published in the 2024 PebbleBash Conference book.

Funding and Support: Participation in this conference was supported in part by funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council through the SSHRC Institutional Grant – Exchange program.

Project Status: Completed

Deliverables: The article is published in the Conference book titled “Supporting the Ambitions of Higher Education” and available on https://pebblepad.com/pebblebash-2024/conference-book/#form
