Course Details

The purpose of this course is to provide probation officers and probation officer 14s with an understanding of the philosophy and skills needed to provide effective interventions with their clients. The course will review relevant BC Community Corrections Policy and incorporate research that outlines the principles upon which effective client supervision practices are based. The course will also focus on the role of the probation officer in reducing recidivism, strategies that have been shown to be effective with probation clients and the qualities of effective interventions and programming.
