Course Details

The objective of this course is to have candidates become proficient in the ability to understand Part VI Authorizations from the application process to managing the interception of private communications. This is done in the context of Major Case Management principles. Investigative necessity will be the focus from a drafting perspective, and will include the role of the Crown Agent and their expectation of the affiant/investigative team. Students will learn how to read the relative statute and how to meet the threshold of the elements first through conceptual understanding then through application by drafting, with consideration given to how to defend an application as well as how to execute an order.
