Sentencing Considerations for Aboriginal Offenders Clients

This course is designed for adult probation officers in British Columbia to assist them in preparing a Pre-Sentence Report (PSR) that contain sentencing considerations for aboriginal clients. The course will examine the implications of the Gladue court decision and subsequent court decisions as they relate to the completion of a PSR for Aboriginal persons. The course will also examine how to create relationships with aboriginal communities and the factors to explore when preparing this type of PSR. The course will outline how to gather and organize the appropriate information needed to prepare a PSR for an aboriginal client.
