Course Details
This Basic Safety Training - Advanced Fire Fighting Refresher course is based on the requirements of Transport Canda TP 4957, Chapter 19, and is in direct compliance with STCW95 Convention, Regulation AVI/2. This refresher training is offered in cooperation with BCIT with the JIBC component hosted at the Maple Ridge campus. Through classroom-based presentation and review, as well as practical skills training, participants will refresh knowledge and skills learned in their previous Basic Safety Training and Advanced Fire Fighting courses. There is a continued focus on various methods of fire control and extinguishment during simulated live fire training. By revisiting these skill and knowledge components, students will gain great competence and have the opportunity to learn new methods of fire control and fire extinguishment.
REGISTRATION INFORMATION: Candidates must be a minimum of 15 years of age and have 1) a valid & current seafarer's medical certifying that the candidate is fit without limitations, 2) completed Fatigue Management at Sea (available for free from the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety). Proof of current seafarer's medical and completion of Fatigue Management at Sea must be provided to JIBC Fire Safety Division before attending the course.
