Charlene Dhaliwal’s first involvement with JIBC was as a student, when she completed the correctional and probation officer training programs in 1997 and 2000, respectively.  For the next 20 years, Ms. Dhaliwal was a dedicated BC Corrections employee, who had a strong passion for supporting change in the people she worked with.

Ms. Dhaliwal joined JIBC in 2017 as the Program Manager for Adult Probation Officer (APO) training and was instrumental in the implementation of a new training model for probation officers across the province. In 2019, she became the Program Director, expanding her scope of responsibilities to include additional training activities and leadership initiatives. Ms. Dhaliwal was appointed Director, Corrections & Court Services Division (CCSD) in April 2021 after acting in the position from September 2020 to January 2021.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in criminology, from Simon Fraser University.
