Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC) has chosen to confer a Doctor of Laws, honoris causa (LLD) to deserving recipients to recognize persons who have excelled in their contributions and accomplishments and whose excellence will reflect positively on JIBC, its students and alumni. The degree affirms the recipient’s connection to the work of JIBC and the communities it serves consistent with the vision and mission of the Institute. As such, recipients shall have exemplary character and the highest standards of personal and professional integrity.
There are four general categories of people upon whom the Institute may confer honorary degrees:

JIBC reserves the right to rescind an honorary degree if the conduct of the recipient is such that continued recognition could cause harm to the Institute’s reputation. The conduct can have occurred either before or after the conferring of the honorary degree.
