Beginning November 1, 2026, British Columbia will move to permanent daylight saving time. Clocks will not move back one hour.
JIBC class schedules and assignment deadlines have not changed. However, some dates and times in online systems may display incorrectly following the time zone change.
What students need to do
Check that your computer, phone and other devices are set to BC's new time zone: (UTC -7:00) Pacific Time (British Columbia).
What instructors and meeting organizers need to do
Blackboard users
If you use Blackboard to manage course dates and activities:
- Check that your device is using the correct BC time zone.
- Review scheduled activities on or after November 1 to ensure times display correctly.
- Check schedules for courses underway, as some dates and times may display an hour earlier or later than intended.
Outlook meeting organizers
If you organized Outlook meetings scheduled for November 1 or later, review those meetings and update the time zone where needed. Only the meeting organizer needs to make changes.
View instructions for updating Outlook meeting time zones.
These steps will help ensure meetings, classes and learning activities continue at their intended local times.
