Course Details

Security Guards must be licensed to work in B.C. There is a 40-hour training requirement to obtain a licence under the Security Services Act (SSA). This Basic Security Training course prepares students in the theory portion of the provincial training requirement. By actively participating in the practical exercises and scenarios, students become better prepared to meet the challenges of working in the security industry. This course is delivered either online at JIBC, or in a classroom through an approved training partner. Administrative Notes: After successfully completed the 40-hour theory portion within the published dates, students must register for SCRT-1656 BST Assessment. Students must successfully pass the assessment before applying for a security worker licence.
