Course Details

This supervised practicum allows for child support officers (CSOs) to gain experience by observing and being mentored while conducting various functions in their role. The students can apply their course learnings and dispute resolution training while completing their various practicum tasks. Tasks in this experiential training include: conducting facilitated negotiations; assisting with court processes, documents, and interjurisdictional support orders (ISO); facilitating assessment interviews; calculating and formalizing child support arrangements. This practicum will also expose students to office procedures, Family Justice Services Division (FJSD) policy, resources for FJSD employees, and resources for families experiencing separation and divorce.
