Course Details

As a member of the healthcare team and part of the community, the Community Paramedic has a specific role and function. In this course, learners will define the role and scope of practice for a Community Paramedic as well as learn how developing and maintaining interprofessional working relationships enable optimal health outcomes for individuals and entire communities. Through examining the social determinants of health, learners will build a 'new' way to assess patients who require more than just medical aid. These determinants include individual, social, environmental, economic and regulatory factors. Learners will begin to explore existing resources and services in communities and consider how Community Paramedicine can enhance those services to meet community needs through: . Community Outreach and Awareness Programs - Explore collaboration . Health Promotion - Understand community needs . Wellness Clinics - Champion healthy living and provide education . Wellness Checks - Engage patients
