Course Details

This advanced course builds on foundational geospatial skills to focus on decision-oriented analysis in emergency management contexts. Learners will explore how to identify vulnerable populations, critical infrastructure, and environmental risks through spatial queries, multi-criteria analysis, and risk mapping. They will practice translating geospatial outputs into clear and operationally relevant situation briefings, aligned with Incident Command System (ICS) protocols and emergency management practices. Emphasis will be placed on ethical mapping, equity considerations, and engaging Indigenous knowledge to ensure inclusive and culturally informed decision support. By the end of the course, learners will produce a StoryMap portfolio demonstrating their applied skills and professional growth across the GTEM program.
