This course provides practical training in managing the data that underpins emergency mapping and situational awareness. Learners will gain hands-on experience sourcing and validating datasets from public repositories, commercial platforms, and custom data sources. They will work with tabular and raster data, create and apply metadata standards, design field data collection tools, and integrate real-time feeds. By the end of the course, students will have the skills to manage spatial data effectively and prepare accurate, reliable datasets that support decision-making in Emergency Operations Centres and other emergency management contexts.

Students are expected to participate actively in discussion boards, collaborate with peers, and complete assignments on a set schedule, ensuring steady progress throughout the course. All assignments and activities must be completed to pass this course.

Enrollment into the Micro-Certificate in Geospatial Technologies is required to register for this course.
