Course Details

The Marine Advanced IGF Training (MED-AST) course is based on the requirements established by Regulation V/3 of the Standards of Training and Certification for Watchkeeping Personnel (STCW) Convention and detailed in Section A-V/3 of the STCW Code. This course is intended for Masters, Officers, Ratings, and other personnel with immediate responsibility for the care and use of fuels and fuel systems on ships subject to the International Code of Safety for Ships Using Gases or other Low-flashpoint Fuels (IGF Code). This course builds upon competencies developed through completion of FIRE-1404 - STCW-MED-Basic Safety Training and FIRE-1421 - Marine Industry - Gas Fuelled Vessel Basic Training. It covers all subjects prescribed by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Model Courses 7.14 "Advanced training for Masters, Officers, Ratings and other personnel on ships subject to the IGF Code". Components of this course consist of theoretical/classroom learning, practical/scenario-based training evolutions and skill development. REGISTRATION INFORMATION: Candidates must have a valid & current seafarer's medical certifying that the candidate is fit without limitations. Proof of current seafarer's medical must be provided to JIBC Fire Safety Division before attending the course.
