Course Details
This course introduces you to the concepts, skills and approaches needed to facilitate a conflict conversation between two conflicting parties. Acting as an intervenor in this way resembles facilitating a conflict conversation or negotiation between the parties. You will learn how to conduct a collaborative process with, and for, your parties, from pre-meeting consultation to achieving agreements in joint meetings. This course will help you discern whether a mediative process is appropriate, define the role of the facilitator/mediator, guide the process, manage emotions and use communication skills as a facilitator of collaborative process. These practical tools and methods help you to assist others resolve their conflicts and generate mutually satisfactory outcomes for themselves. You will have opportunities to facilitate simulated disputes involving co-workers, customers, committee members, neighbours, parents/teens and co-parents. Emphasis is on skill development through simulated conflict conversations assisted by trained coaches.
