Course Details

In this course, learners will learn to plan strategically to meet the fire service related needs of their community. Learners will develop a comprehensive long range plan based on community requirements,considerate of contractual agreements and local/provincial and federal regulations; projected training requirements, equipment and facility needs will be part of this plan. In addition, learners will plan collaboratively with other agencies to mitigate the impacts of potential disasters.

This is one course in the JIBC Fire Officer program intended to meet the NFPA 1021 Standardprogressing through the fourth level of Fire Officer Qualification, Fire Officer Fire Officer IV (administrative). The following areas of responsibility will be covered: human resource management, community and government relations, administration, inspection and investigation, emergency service delivery and health and safety.
