Course Details

This course will assist the learner to develop a clinical systemic approach which will encompass traditional Indigenous knowledge on family attachment, relationships and family systems in order to facilitate working with Indigenous families and family members. Mainstream approaches that are respectful of Indigenous knowledge and appropriate and effective with Indigenous families will also be taught. The learner will begin to develop a clinical systemic approach that assists family members to celebrate their resilient relationships, enhance their attachment within the family, and enrich their ways of relating. Emphasis will be placed on relating styles that provide strength and support of family members as they experience the ongoing impacts of colonization while building on Indigenous knowledge.
