About the Event
On Monday, Sept. 21, in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (Sept. 30), we will be having two flag-raising ceremonies.
- 10:00 a.m. - New Westminster Campus
- 1:00 p.m. - Maple Ridge Campus
Last year, we unveiled a new Orange Every Child Matters flag created for JIBC by a young Indigenous artist named Tiah Sampson. We will continue the tradition with this flag and Tiah will be present again this year at the ceremonies.
We raise the flag to remember and to honour the children who never returned home and the Survivors of residential schools, as well as the intergenerational impacts on families and communities by the residential school system.
